American History M

June 6, 2013 by Gnome 1 Comment

This image comes to us from friend of Superissimo, Doug Ritter; a man who is no stranger to the Pro Wrench. He possesses a deep & dirty history of the American Professional Cycling saga as we know it. This image is from Spain in 1990. These kids? Doug asks, can you name them? We see some familiar faces here. So fresh, so young. You might even say poussaint? These days of 1990 were so close to the dawning of American Pro Cycling success. The groundwork had been laid by LeMond, opening doors and establishing the possibility for these kid’s dreams to happen. Amazing to know now how dark it would get for some. It’s been an amazing tale to watch and be a part of. And no matter how it unfolded, the bicycle and the dreams still remain for anyone who is passionate for the ride.

Can you name them all?

My first road race was on a Motorola Merckx team bike back in 93 I think? Still one of the nicest frames I’ve been on
